Campionati del Mondo 1990: il galà maschile

Kurt Browning in Bring Him Home.

Ai Campionati del Mondo di Halifax 1990 Todd Eldredge si è piazzato quinto. Questo è il suo galà:

Grzegorz Filipowski, terzo l’anno prima, è arrivato quarto.

God on high
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there

He is young
He’s afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.

He’s like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.

Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy

You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die, let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.

Il programma:

Il secondo programma un pezzo comico, Here I Am/She’s Hot to Go, è l’unione di due brani di Lyle Lovett e anche lui è coreografato da Kevin Cottam. I testi delle canzoni:

“Here I Am”
scritta da by Lyle Lovett
(dall’album Lyle Lovett & His Large Band, 1989)

Hello
I’m the guy who sits next to you
And reads the newspaper over your shoulder
Wait
Don’t turn the page
I’m not finished
Life is so uncertain

Here I am
Yes it’s me
Take my hand
And you’ll see
Here I am
Yes it’s true
All I want
Girl is you

Given that true intellectual and emotional compatability
Are at the very least difficult
If not impossible to come by
We could always opt for the more temporal gratification
Of sheer physical attraction
That wouldn’t make you a shallow person
Would it

Here I am
Yes it’s me
Take my hand
And you’ll see
Here I am
Yes it’s true
All I want
Girl is you

If Ford is to Chevrolet
What Dodge is to Chrysler
What Corn Flakes are to Post Toasties
What the clear blue sky is to the deep blue sea
What Hank Williams is to Neil Armstrong
Can you doubt we were made for each other

Here I am
Yes it’s me
Take my hand
And you’ll see
Here I am
Yes it’s true
All I want
Girl is you

Look
I understand too little too late
I realize there are things you say and do
You can never take back
But what would you be if you didn’t even try
You have to try
So after a lot of thought
I’d like to reconsider
Please
If it’s not too late
Make it a cheeseburger

Here I am
Yes it’s me
Take my hand
And you’ll see
Here I am
Yes it’s true
All I want
Girl is you

She’s Hot to Go – Lyle Lovett

Now to find a man good loving
Ain’t an easy thing to do
You’ve got to know just what you’re looking for
And where to find it too
She’s hot to go she’s ready
She’s hot to go right now
She’s hot to go
You’ve got to know
That stop-and-do-it gal

We don’t have no lengthy shopping
You don’t have to stand in line
You don’t have to care who sees your hair
You don’t have to waste your time

She’s hot to go she’s ready
She’s hot to go right now
She’s hot to go
You’ve got to know
That stop-and-do-it gal

You can stop by in the morning
You can stop by late at night
You can stop by if you’re ugly friend
Or if you look all right

She’s hot to go she’s ready
She’s hot to go right now
She’s hot to go
You’ve got to know
That stop-and-do-it gal

Now I crept up from behind her
She looked so fine to me
But when I stepped around her man
My eyes could plainly see

She was ugly from the front
She was ugly from the front
She was ugly from the front
And I said ugly-ugly-ugly-ugly-ugly

Well I could handle it behind her
And I like it on the side
But don’t make me look around her man ’cause she’s
Ugly-ugly-ugly-ugly-ugly

She was ugly from the front
She was ugly from the front
She was ugly from the front
And I said this girl was so ugly…

She’s hot to go she’s ready
She’s hot to go right now
She’s hot to go
You’ve got to know
That stop-and-do-it gal
